I thought it was illegal to stage pay rises throught out the year , they done that a few years ago and quickly stopped it .
Still think its bullcrap 2.9% is way higher than anyone expects

I don't think there are enough of us for the Government to worry about what we'll do in an election.....
I just hope we get more than the millions of public sector spongers but not much more - I reckon the strong support of the public is more important to us just now.

I have heard that us pensioners are getting diddly squat in line with Civil Servants. Apparently because Govt made sure September 09 RPA was a minus figure -1.4%.

If the payrise is based on RPI then it should be in the order of about 2.5%.. Not really bothered about the Civil Service. As long as the Armed Forces are looked after then that is all that matters.

For those sadly injured and receiving a War Pension, as announced in Parliament on the 24th February, these will rise by 1.5% this coming April. However this rise is actually an 'advance payment' of the rise due in April 2011 (as the RPI was negative in September 2009 when the following April's rise is set). Thus thanks to this 'smoke and mirrors', April 2011's rise will be September 2010's RPI minus 1.5%:

For those injured since April 2005 (and thus come under the AFCS) following a review into the AFCS, the rises, depending on degree of injury, will be upto 33% on the monthly 'Guaranteed Income Payments' and 66% on the lump sums.

The cynic in me wonders if, being an election year, this has something to do with this years AFCS rises (hoping most people will forget about the meagre Service Pension/War Pension rises). It is also quite a kick on the teeth for those badly injured before April 2005 (which includes the early days of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as NI, Gulf War 1, The Falklands, Suez, WW2 etc etc).
