Pentagon scrambles to save air tanker contest

The Pentagon was scrambling on Wednesday to save a multibillion dollar contest to replace the US Air Force’s ageing fleet of air refuelling tankers after Northrop Grumman and EADS in effect withdrew their joint bid.
