Cool RNZAF (copy from dunnunda)

I'm considering applying for the rnzaf as a pilot officer. Can anyone give any info on

a) recruiting at the moment

b) job prospects - how much and what type of flying do you get to do on different a/c types (including choppers)? Are P-3's as boring as I assume? (flying over... water, water, water, then returning to base!)

c) what do you do when not flying? Do you have effectively a second job when you're not flying?

Any replies gratefully recieved!

Dupre.

This surely cannot be a micre-take emanating from Auckland, where presumably they don't have news media, and Cracum wouldn't be capable of printing it if they had?

Wink

Mate, I'd cut out the middle man and ask the RAAF/RAF your questions.
But, just in case your query is genuine... I'm sure you are aware what the PM has done to the RNZAF and if, despite all of that, you still want to be part of it, then good luck to you. Some of the boys should still be able to give you a run down on the positive side of the RNZAF - most of the ones I know enjoyed the job until recent developments. And, being from Auckland myself I assure you there's no place like Godzone. Nought wrong with Craccum or scarfies, either.
If you want to come over and fly for the RAF then don't be afraid to look into that option either. There's a commonwealth scheme for the likes of you and I (and I enjoy the flying AND the job, but don't tell anyone).
Cheers
