Here we go again..

So,

Procurement of the new USAF Tanker is being done by the USAF themselves.. so why then, after all the remarks about how politicians run these contracts, are the USAF setting out a stall that screams "To hell with capability, we will be choosing the cheapest plane"..???

Boeing - Northrop Still Battling over Air Force Tanker

I think it might be to do with wave of recent media hits about the USAF Tanker selection. CNBC is the latest with Boeing - Northrop Still Battling over Air Force Tanker. Boeing are running a 'Blog' and a 'Tweet' (http://tw1tter.com/ustanker) which seem more like a bleat. (Change 1 to i - the full URL gets scrambled)

There are two quotes of possible interest:
...get on with the process of arriving at the final requirements and evaluation criteria that will enable the Air Force to flawlessly choose the right tanker at the best value.

...But the longer this drags on, the less likely it appears anyone is winning, especially the tanker pilots flying aircraft older than their parents.
