Female soldiers in the news
Not strictly an aviation matter, but one that the AAC will be interested in :
http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/health/newsid_1738000/1738487.stm
It's a subject that's been covered here in the past....but I'm sure this has further to run in light of these latest findings.

What puzzles me is that while some women make great pilots, those that don't meet the grade can still pass their pilot's course.
Even when physical strength isn't an issue, the playing-field slopes.
Lots of examples - I mean who doesn't remember the first pilot ever to get their wings despite not being NVG qualified because they 'didn't like them'?
You just know that couldn't have been a bloke.

Do I!, funny that she couldn't touch the pedals when in the sight on the AH7 but still got the conversion ahead of quite a few geezers at the time, just for a second round of headlines I remember, (I should work for media ops)

Great article, I really love that it takes a British Army lieutenant colonel to tell us "men's and women's bodies are different"
no $hit, I could've told you that and I'm only a major!
Cheers!

But then CR, you do get some good eggs amongst the BIFFS such as Jen Firth who could whoop most of the guys for stick skills.
Pity that the majority of the press surrounding women soldiers revolves around their bedroom antics a la Kat Astley (plans for a follow up to Guns and Roses speedily shelved post revelations) and the LCpl from the RLC who bared all in the Sun, the gunner who ran off with a married Sgt and so on.

KBF1 - you're right - the bedding skills tend to keep people more interested that flying skills. Anyway there was another 'Kat Astley' just before Christmas...but not in crop circles this time.
Someone in Aldershot decided to take a shine to a Tp SSgt in the same unit and ended up getting sacked. Quick replacement required from where I am...but that's all I can say lest I be shot at dawn.
I wonder when/if this will hit the papers? Or even if they would be interested given that this girlie is definitely not a film star?
Has the 'Bed of Roses' been binned ?

Yeah! That Amelia Earheart woman couldn't fly for toffee! You need big strong muscles to heave an aeroplane round the sky. The women should stay in the galleys and make the coffee for the REAL men in the cockpit...
[Well, on second thoughts I suppose she could fly all right, it was her navigation that left a bit to be desired... ]
Enough p*ss taking. Surely women only have to be as physically fit as the men in those jobs where strengh and physical fitness are important elements of the job? I never approached the physical fitness of a Royal Marine Commando but then I only needed to be fit enough to get out of bed in the morning and stagger to the airfield for a fun day playing with aeroplanes.

It would appear that the Equal Opportunities package has not as yet reached this Forum. Probably couldnt get through the door for the overload on testosterone.(Over inflated Ego's).
