Angry Call home for Xmas!

I know we've been here before, but do we have to put up with this dreadful service from x100? Yes, the tree-hugging lads & lasses who answer are only doing as they're told, but all I want is quick service, not to be IiP'd every time I pick up the phone!

Why oh Why can't they give out more than 1 number. As soon as they say that I KNOW I'll be caling them back, to go through the whole process again in just 30 seconds! (Oh, £££ I hear you say?)

Please tell me whoever supported this dreadful system has been relegated to licking stamps somewhere?

edited for angry typing!

We had a 222 call routed through to the Admin section a long while ago!!!! Utter rubbish.

Don't know who brought it in, but they ought to be shot......

I raised the number of numbers problem with my DATO. Apparently they can give out up to 10 numbers at once. If you are having probs, ask to speak to a supervisor - it will get their attention.

That said, I don't wish to support the system. It is a load of old b******s. What grips me is that when I (frequently) call in from home to talk to someone on a mil ext, they give me the whole military extension, including the code for the stn. I have pointed out that this is little use from outside, but the message just isn't hitting home.

It has got better, but as a last resort, most of the guys go to the registry and ask the clerk to dig out the double secret, last updated in 1988, RAF Telephone Directory that we were meant to throw away ten yrs ago(Shh, don't tell). Nine times out of 10, it is faster and more reliable than the muppets employed by the call centre.

Well why don't we amend the contract to get an RAF-wide telephone book. And if that is too expensive why don't we get a flying officer to produce one whist holding for something more interesting. This crap wastes more of my time (and I guess everone up to 2* (who has a PSO to do it for him)) than I care to think about.

Unhappy

The other thing that realy pi$$es me off is that in "the good ole days" when each Station had its own operators, they would know what you were talking about and put you straight through. The number of occasions that I need to find the extension of an obscure TLA'd section on another Station or a section that has changed its name (yet again!), only to be met with "what does that stand for?", "can you be more specific?" or "I can't find that, does it come under a different name?". I don't know, you tell me!!!! If I had all the details I needed I wouldn't be talking to you!"

PLEASE, lets spend a bit more cash on going back to a user friendly system of operators on each Station, that know that Station and its sections and offer a FAR FAR better service than the sh!te we have presently.

I believe that the contract is such good value, that we only pay 50ppm for on-base calls, and £1.00 pm for off base calls. Last year Cranditz had 100/192 calls barred due to the damage afflicted to the Station's Telephone Budget.
On the flip side, you make lots of new friends, since I rarely ever get to the correct number first time round, and this way I've lots of new people to chat to!!!

Angry

We had a practice fire evac recently. Who called 222 said the Fire Off, I did on my mobile says I; You cannot do that from an outside line says he! You cannot be serious says "we", so we try to do it for real and he is right! You cannot tel: a unit and report an emergency from a mobile phone, what a big word with two ells in it that is.

Progress is an improved system.....NOT

The 'new' system does blow goats but not as good as the great telecom gesture from Stn Cdr of Buchan. Hand written Christmas cards with £20 phone cards to all the chaps down the Falkland Islands. She's obvoiusly very busy and has lots of budget left to spend, with 'Merry Christmas I hope you find this useful' not much use actually Maam because you sent BT phone cards and the phones here are Cable and Wireless. D'oh!
If she'd done a detachment here she would know that, either that or her staff are incompetent <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
