Gorilla , For Coffee ! By the way get some ‘fresh and vac’ you stink !

Ginger , a touch embarrassed eh , so they should be , most of them let the Movers load and trim their aircraft . Haven’t they been replaced by stewards in some cases?
But on a serious note I have to agree with Beagle , there is a need for that third person on the deck , whatever the brevet, ALM or FE. For christs sake keep that third set of eyes in the cockpit in the future.

Any more fish in the sea?

Question

It's not often that I agree with the Gorilla however, if the cap fits Rude C'man.

The important fact here has already been stated i.e. that the military MUST keep a 3rd Aircrew member on the flight deck for all flying except AT high level hauling. There is a profound and fundamental difference in our line of work which is soooooo different than the Civvy airline role.

So, why are the grown-ups, training the LM brothers Tec when they already have a vast pool of experienced FE's? It is obviously simpler, safer and more cost efficient to train an FE to strap sh!t down (i have always either done or supervised/checked the Wt & Bal myself) than to train an ALM tec.

OASC has already chosen those of us with Tec aptitude to be Engineers, why then choose the guy who didn't make the grade to be an FE, (yes, yes, some of you chose to be LM's) partly due to the fact that he doesn't have tec aptitude, to then be tec trained?

How many are struggling now on the new OCU's for the C17 and C130J, check that one out !!

Fe training at Slagford tec is planned to cease Apr 04 however, in the line of duty I have seen paperwork from Dimsworth showing an FE commencing training (and funding for it) in 2005 i.e. grad 2006/7!!, everything in the Royal Air Farce always slips to the right. Where is all the money coming from for the FSTA? er, well, we are spending it as we speak in the Gulf. Do you think that the treasury will coff up over and above the defence budget allocation?, dream on.

Heres another good one, the Gulf lark will only last a few months, I have already been in conversation regarding long term i.e.years in this current Op. NB Boz was only going to be a year, I did a decade myself !!!!!!!!

Ginger Beer,

(only in Bermudan Dark-n-Stormy's)

Wink

So are all you Crabs single seat or what? Havnt read such drivel in years.

Carl if you are a sensible young man you'll consider Dark Blue. As well as all the advantages of being in the Senior Service, left hand seat rotary is v.fun. As for Jobs after:
a)Civillan companies would great respect for you simply from seeing you choice in service.
b)Anyone and his dog can fly Comercial, ooo shooting an ILS approach is hard, and so what if your compatriots have had a couple more hours stick time, Airlines gloss over that.
c)Not much use in civvie street for supersonic anyway.
d)All the crabs will need soon are UAV operators who are all going to be ex NAVs anyway.

You choice mate, besides the light blue uniform looks crap anyway, seen a woman go up to a Crab at a Cocktail Party, I dont think so. As for Cocktail Parties, in the RN, it's your Cab on the arse end, no one eles!!

Ah yes - swilling jolly Pinkers whilst impressing all and sundry wenches at yet another Cockers P in one's piddling little gunboat! That's the way to spend the defence vote.

Just how long did HMS Iron Duck ever do actually guarding the Islas Malvinas? Apart, that is from getting the potential enemy too widdled at cocktail parties up and down South America for them to give a flying f*** about Bennyland!

Cool

DP Harvey

Up in oor wee office at 42 we get a lot of guys (techies) coming to have a look see and get the Gen on the trade. NONE of the people we have showed round have left thinking there is a future in the trade, they all know it will be a short term career.

I thoroughly dismiss the notion that anyone has had the wool pulled over there eyes. Certainly all of the new guys we get were completely aware before they started what the longevity of the trade was.

And just for the record, I think ALMs will hack their new role as FEs no bother. Lets face it, rocket science it ain't.
