raf northalt is still a proper station!
good effort from northalt today, not quite sure just what flew over head but looked like a jet being escorted by 2 others, with a helo hovering nearby.
Show the locals that this old station is still a proper base! Keep it up we want to see more! makes a change to rich people in their biz jets!

The aircraft were a Queens Flight BA146 and two Dominies. An unusual sight and an impressively close formation.

You've solved a conundrum for me. I saw them over Oxford. Through the haze it looked like a C-17 flanked by two huge I don't know whats. Now there's a competition. What does a triple size dominie make.

Thats what it looked like.
Perahps someone with more skill in Photoshop than I could run up a 146/dominie vs C-17/BAC311 formation (or someone with a very large budget could do it for real)

would never have worked though BEags as the new concept of "Fly by String" would have taken years of development and been overtaken by "Fly by Chain" and "Fly by Wire"
