Iraq builds up its new airforce...

C130's, Mi-17's and T-6A II Texan trainers for the Iraqi airforce.

The Penny Drops: Iraq Chooses its COIN Aircraft - Texan II's

Medium Mainstay: Mi-17s for Iraq - Mi-17's

Iraq Orders C-130Js - C130J's

Looks like their well on their way to have a fairly useful little airforce. With US Support, it's not like they need the higher tier capabilities just yet is it?

Any views?

I expect we will be trying to flog them Typhoons soon.

Actually, Typhoons might actually be useful to Iraq, once most of it becomes a Shi'ite state, allied to Iran, with major foe Israeli Air Force.

And so the cycle goes on...

Maybe they will order a few C-17's and keep the production line open just that bit longer !
Doubt they would even be given the opertunity to get Typhoons am quiet sure they will be "told " to take F16's or F18's .

Wow, they have ordered a grand total of 4 spare AE2100D3 engines. I hope they are better than what I remember.
