BBMF at Runnymede Memorial Noon Sat/Sun

I hear that the BBMF will make a flypast at Runnymede this weekend to mark the VE Day anniversary. Not seen anything on here, so thought I'd mention it.

Believe this will be at Noon, no doubt those better informed will give fuller details, but just wanted to give a "Heads Up" to anyone who is interested.

(Mods: Feel free to move to Military aircrew or Aviation History & Nostalgia, but thought it would get more notice as a "News" item).

Last that I heard (yesterday) was that it was in the DDA hangar at Schiphol having the No4 engine changed as it had a problem during/after all the flypats in Holland on the 4th/5th.

If flypats can take out a 4-engined bomber, I'd hate to think what their cowpats could do!

Assume the Sptifire and Hurricane would be good to go, though.

from another NOTAM source ...

H0997/09 - FLYPAST BY BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT ACFT WI 13NM RADIUS 5125N 00040W (ASCOT - SURREY). ACFT WILL HOLD AT BAGSHOT PRIOR TO 2 FLYPASTS OF RUNNEYMEDE MEMORIAL (5127N00034W) AT 1025HR. ACFT WILL DEPART VIA BAGSHOT.
AUS 09-05-0039/AS1. SFC - 2500FT AMSL, 10 MAY 10:10 2009 UNTIL 10 MAY 10:45 2009.

which indicates it's on Sunday 10th at 10.25z (11.25 local time); also, should be 2 passes, but I don't know which direction(s). Should cause a little bit of chaos for Heathrow inbounds and/or outbounds at that time, which is only right and proper!

FYI, there are also similar flypasts at RAF Hendon Museum in the next week or so ...

H1164/09 - FLYPAST BY BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT ACFT WI 3NM RADIUS5136N 00014W (RAF MUSEUM HENDON, GREATER LONDON) AUS 09-05-0081/AS1. SFC - 2000FT AMSL, 13 1350-1415, 17 1250-1315, 13 MAY 13:50 2009 UNTIL 17 MAY 13:15 2009.CREATED: 07 MAY 15:08 2009

So, Weds 13th at about 3pm (local) and Sunday 17th at about 2pm (local).

... and the flypast duly took place .... by the BBMF Dakota.

It approached from the southwest, did the first pass, then a neat turn to fly back over heading south (and descending), and then climb away back to the southwest again.

At the time I was in a car-park being grilled by a parking warden as to why I didn't have a display ticket. The shrift I gave him was rather short, and as he gazed at the Dakota (flying above 'his' car-park) I got in the car and drove off.
