Touch and Go mishaps

About 10 -15 years ago I remember a Herc doing a Touch and Go in a farmers field in Newport in Shropshire got bogged down. It was there for a considerable period of time until they got a strip sorted. Ground was a little boggier than expected.

Anybody else aware of mishaps like this.

You do of course mean a landing at RAF Chetwynd which is a grass airfield used by the Herc Force for training. Unfortunately whilst taxying for take off he went off the 'beaten' track and became a 'Shropshire Landmark' for a few days before being ignominiously moved to a suitable take off position.

The wheel marks remained 'in' the grass airfield for some considerable time after.
