Flying pay....

Hi folks....

I was wondering... and sorry for the silly question, If you work on a VGS, say for instance Syerston and you are a 'winged' instructor but not a product of the usual flying training system with real wings, are you entitled to, or, do you get flying pay?

Sorry for the daft quesion but I overheard a bloke in the local in Gonnerby the other night bragging that he was recieving flying pay for working on the VGS.

I would have asked Champs but I am house and dog sitting for them as they are away for a few weeks....

No you don't. You are entitled to mileage (home to duty) but that's about it, or at least that's how it was for me a few years ago.

Hope this helps

Flying pay is a specialist pay for suitably qualified service pilots only (ie wearing the RAF flying badge). Your bloke down the pub clearly isn't, however take him at face value and he could buy you a few pints with his flying pay
