US Airforce Callsigns

I regularly fly through the Middle East and often hear the US Airforce. Often wondered what they were flying.

Anyone point me to where I can find it.

Often hear 'Python'. Would they all be flying the same type of aircraft or many different types having the same callsign.

Cheers

Thanks Sunshine band. Quite extensive.

It may be a little out of date now.

Many 'Reach' I see are C17s which are not mentioned. Also I hear 'Whistler' alot too. Yet thats not listed.

Cheers.

Anyone know what a/c type 'whistler' are likely to be.

"check six"

The air refuelling lot at Mildenhall (100 ARW?) use 'Quid'.

You also hear 'Blue'- which is US Army.

Do we really want to be discussing callsigns and associated aircraft on current operations?

My vote is no.

I agree. If it's not open source then there's a very good reason why not.

It might make a very big difference to Terry Talliban if he knows that Spunker 202 is a KC10 and not a B1.

A bit out of date!

Just looked at the above website callsigns and just a tad out of date.

ASCOT 4000-4019 HERCULES RAF INBOUND/OUTBOUND HONGKONG
ASCOT 4020-4039 HERCULES RAF INBOUND/OUTBOUND SARDINIA

I wish we still did Hongkong and sardinia!!!

Anyway I'll stick with my mystery callsign in the sandbox and lets keep it a mystery.... more fun that way!

In the early days of the Afghan excursion we regularly used to hear a fast mover callsign Elvis. He always raised a smile with his "Ladies and Ge'mun, Elvis has left the target" And if it was a Brit AWACS controlling it was always replied with "Thank yuh verr much"

Unsurprising to find Viper, Maverick et al... but TOP GUN as a callsign?

TOPGUN F/A18 USN NAS FALLON
TOPGUN VARIOUS USN NFWS

You two characters are going to Top Gun

CATBIRD always uses the same aircraft.
Used to be a P3 but been upgraded to a G3 a few years ago. The link mentions that its a VP3A...

Vietnam-Era Callsign

Can anyone provide me with name of the Air Force, Vietnam-deployed unit that went by the callsign "Grim Reaper" in the late '60's, early '70's?

Now if there was a world-wide available database search engine you would be able to look up questions like that.
