Reds Display Today

I was working at the Bristol balloon fiesta today, and would like to say the highlight of the show today was the display by the Red Arrows.

I have seen many Reds displays over several years, and this one was a far better routine than I have seen before. The moves seemed very modern with only the diamond nine seeming to be familiar from the past. The display was also enhanced as the aircraft were directly over the heads of the crowd (as there was no runway to offset from, and also a very scattered crowd). Not only this, but off to one side of the fiesta were a line of hills which made it even more impressive for the display to be carried out at as low a level as some of the moves were

All of the other team members I was working with were also very impressed, as were the vast majority of the crowd (many of whom left the event just after the display)

Thanks for brightening my day

Glad to hear that you were impressed with the Reds, as I was at Farnborough.
Hope the weather was kind.

This years display does seem very tight and not too familiar. The crowd rear arrival is a welcome addition also.

I ( ex-BAe, my dad was in charge of fitting the Red's smoke pods ) was called yesterday afternoon by a platonic, non-aviation type girlfriend absolutely raving about her view of the display from Clifton - so well done Red 1 & team, you're obviously hitting the mark !

Reds at Cowes

I saw them at Cowes on Friday for the usual closing of the Cowes Week sailing regatta and have to say they were superb. Although slightly overcast they managed an awesome display and I was surprised (but pleased) to see how low and close they were to the shore. Definitely made up for the no-show (twice) of the Vulcan!
