At last some good news for the wounded. Just wish they would stick to the "no more spin" lines....dream on
Thats the MAXIMUM - if you qualify and are judged to be that seriously injured. Bet the rules aren't changed so that ALL injuries are taken into consideration. IIRC currently it is only the 2 or 3 most serious injuries that count and everything else is ignored.
What is a war pension payable to a Pte? £15K..? No idea but assume it is about that so....
.... say someone is serious wounded at 20 and gets the max pay out. This means that their pension will be in the region of on a pension of £15,000 for the next 60 years to this amount. (15000 x 60 + 570000 = 147000)
Even with index linking etc not many young lads who are so seriously wounded that they qualify for the max pay outs would be ever reach that full amount.
But ultimatly it is more generous than at present - as it should
be
The maximum payment will increase to £570,000, on top of a guaranteed income payment for life.
The most seriously wounded will continue to receive an annual income on top, meaning that their overall lifetime payout could be more than £1.5m.
