RIAT RAF Fly by
Just watched it on the Beeb, nice pictures, shame about the commentary.
Good parade of Aircraft given the weather conditions which were not ideal.

Ditto - wish I'd known Sean Maffet was providing alternative commentary over on BBCi a bit earlier as I had been watching it initially on mute. He still had to contend with poor BBC filming/camera swapping but ,as usual, knew what he was talking about.

Mmm, a fair bit of annoying camera swapping wasn't there. Would have been nice to stay with the camera in the Lancaster cockpit for a while instead of the handful of two second bursts we had. Would prefer commentary from Steve Parish and Charlie Cox.
...but thanks BBC for putting it on telly.

Cottoned on quite quickly that Dan Snow was simply reading a script (? on first sight). Fortunately hit the red button to hear the wisdom of Sean. Well done, Sir!

Missed it because I was in it - anyone got a link so I can see whether we looked good for HM? I heard the BBC commentary was poor - am looking for a camera shot of the whole thing not close-ups...

I happened to be at home this afternoon and was happily watching the test match when I realised the RAF were on BBC. The coverage wasn't brilliant, but I'm grateful that they covered it at all.
My heart sank when the commentator described a rather nice replica Nieuport as an SE5a, and I realised who the commentator was. Fortunately, my Sky+ box invited me to press the red button for 'expert commentary', so I did.
I'm afraid that Dan 'talks-to-five-year-olds' Snow really p*ss*s me off whenever he's on.
I recently watched an otherwise excellent programme on Kilda, where he was introduced as a 'historian', but I had to fast-forward whenever he started spouting his usual dumbed down tosh.
Is it too much to expect a commentator to remember that some of the viewers are grown-ups|

I'm sorry, I thought it was quite an amateur affair by the BBC.
Not putting down the RAF at all- just the BBC!
Some of the camera shots were questionable to say the least!! Especially during the flypast, along with the a/c type labels.
Still mightly impressed though and fantastic to see the a/c in the air.
Anyone notice Dan Snow's comment about (to paraphrase) "the largest fly past in peace time". Someone aught to tell the guys on ops!

An RAF officer commentating at a mega display at Wildenrath in the 60s decribed it as "The biggest display of RAF Air Power in Germany since WWII" which didn't go down too well, with the locals at any rate!
Dan Snow is a pratt. Largest Flypast in peacetime my ass. I've seen more than 90 RAF aircraft do a flypast in my lifetime, and I was born was well after 1953. 163 (if memory serves, though at least 4 were RN SHAR's) on the 50th BofB flypast in 1990.
Saw it on the box this afternoon. Quite a good show, especially as 90 aircraft equates to about one-sixth of the RAF's current inventory of just over 600 aircraft. Just a little surprised that they managed to get so many flying at the same time.
Felt sorry for the parade members as they marched-off in the rain - what a shower!

Watched it on video tonight. Decided it was better with the sound off due to the idiot commentator - bring back Raymond Baxter!!
Have to say the F3 formation was the best. Ten out of ten for the E-3 up the a*rse of the tanker, almost looked plugged in to me. Nice bit of spoiler action as well, must have been bumpy!!
Well done not a dry eye in the house.
PS I am sure the JO Rockape liked being labelled as the Cpl and vice versa, what a hoot!

Hi
Did anyone notice that due to Dan Snow going on and on they completely missed the Sentinals and only mentioned them as an afterthought. I bet he is popular at Waddo ??
