E-3D Markings ... or lack of

During a perusal of some aircraft photography, for some reason I realised that the only markings I'd ever seen on an RAF E-3D were the squadron markings on the tail and the roundel with squadron flashes in front of the wing.
I couldn't find any pics of wing surfaces showing markings or any tail markings other than the squadron ones.
Do they not have them or are they so low-vis that they can't be seen.

My login says it all really.

Cheers for any help anyone can provide

I don't own this space under my name. I should have leased it while I still could

E-3D tail art

Konfused,

ZH103 had the 8 and 23 Sqn 90th Anniversary tail art. All the other aircraft only have Squadron crests under the cockpit windows. I think all aircraft should have all 3 Squadron crests painted on by now, though I can no longer confirm or deny that.

Apologies for the lack of picture quality, but if you can work out where it was taken you will know why it is not good!

I have a similar issue with my ipod, which has neither 'ipod' nor 'apple' marked upon it.
However, due to it's iconic shape and structure, I know it's an ipod. Hope this helps with identifying a converted 707 with a 10,000lb mushroom on the top.

Hope this helps.

Have the E-3's got away with not applying the (magnificent)RAF corperate logo....That we were ordered to apply to the puma. Perhaps they can put it a couple of feet below the already massive Royal Air Force lettering as on the Tristar!!

Just in case nobody can see it!!!!!

Here we go if I remember correctly....

Port Side, Front to back:

City of Lincoln Crest under pilots' window.
8 Sqn Flash (Sand/Sky/Blood) plus low vis roundal behind forward door
Airframe Number in White by the rotodome struts
Tail:
Top: last two digits of airframe number
Centre: 8 Sqn "Gambia" Badge
Bottom of fin by rudder: Low vis RAF Tail Flash.

Starboard Side, Front to Back

NAEW&C Force Command Badge under pilots' window
54(R) Sqn Crest behind NAEW&C FC Badge
23 Sqn Flash (Blue/Red/Blue) each side of a Low Vis Roundal
The rest same as port side except the Sqn marking is the 23 Sqn Tandoori Chicken "Red Eagle".

Above the pilots window at the front are the last 2 digits of the serial number.

The wings have small low visibility roundals both top and bottom.

(Plus all the emergency "Cut Here" and jacking points etc).
