Already has chap, May 08 was the date and they interviewed approximately 37 people, next recruitment will probably be in 2010.

RNZAF

The recruiters are always accepting CVs and enquiries. They ask that you don't send them during the time that they are in the UK conducting interviews - which was in May. I understand that they visit UK every 6 months. Therefore, get your application in.

Having been interviewed by the RNZAF in May, they recruit every 2 years and mentioned that the next planned recruitment will be in 2010. Historically they have come over every 2 years in order to fill not a huge amount of vacancies and when they open the recruitment window they advertise on the RNZAF web site.

Overseas Recruiting

The Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) recruits skilled personnel from other countries on an as required basis. All vacancies are driven and determined by the manning levels and vacancies within each branch or trade and will fluctuate regularly.
Our preference is for our overseas applicants to have previous military experience. Those applicants without previous military experience will have to come to New Zealand for testing and selection at their own expense. The Lateral Recruiting Office in conjunction with the Director of Personnel, the Director of Recruiting and the Director of Career Management manages the administration of overseas applicants. Please use the email facility within this website to contact Recruiting staff in the first instance; we will endeavour to email back promptly. Telephone calls are unlikely to elicit a response due to time-zone differences.
Overseas Recruiting Update Jan 2008

The RNZAF continues to be interested in recruiting trained personnel from overseas. The RNZAF are currently trying to grow to meet the demands of our new and expanding fleets. In order to do this we need to recruit skilled and already trained personnel, and a valued source of recruitment is overseas applicants with previous military experience. Accordingly, the RNZAF intends to enlist a significant number of skilled personnel with previous military experience during 2008 and 2009. We have plenty of opportunities available and welcome your interest. We are particularly interested in Aircrew for flying and staff roles, Engineering Officers, Avionics Technicians, and Aircraft Technicians. All enquiries will be considered on a case by case basis.

All potential applicants who are not New Zealand citizens are requested to check the New Zealand Immigration website to establish if they would be accepted / can gain New Zealand Permanent Residency which is a pre-requisite for enlistment. To gain NZ Permanent Residency you will have to apply via the Skilled Migrant category and need a minimum of 6 years military experience, unless you have family already in NZ. Note that some trades require a Security Clearance which can not be obtained for non-Commonwealth countries (excluding the US) until you have lived in New Zealand for a period of five years. Recruiting Process

We generally only select overseas applications bi-annually. The next Overseas Selection Board will be held August 2008, all applications to be considered at this board must be received by our Recruiting staff by the 27th July 2008. Applicants who apply for recruitment and are going to be considered at this board must be available for enlistment into the RNZAF by April 2010. If you are interested in placing an application with us please contact us for more information. Enquiries

Please use the Email facility within this website to contact Recruiting staff in the first instance. We will endeavor to email you back promptly. Note that email will be the main form of communication used as part of your potential recruitment as telephone calls are unlikely to elicit a response due to time-zone differences.

Don't Hold Your Breath

This straight from their recruitment website only minutes ago and hence the title:

Overseas Recruiting Update June 2009
After a successful couple of years of overseas recruitment, the RNZAF has reduced efforts in this area.
Accordingly, we are not currently accepting any applications from overseas candidates or "registering interest" .
We will advise on this website when we will begin accepting applications again; it is not expected to be in the near future.
Enquiries

Enquiries, not explained by the information above, can be directed to the email address below, but we are not looking for any personnel at present.
For any enquiries please send an email message to our Lateral Recruiting Office. RNZAF Lateral Recruiting Office
7th Floor, Freyberg Building
20 Aitken Street
Wellington 6011
New Zealand

Hope this helps!

"
My source indicates that it is largely the Kiwi inability to accept that 'a person with more operational experience in a larger, more capable force might actually have a point' may be holding then back a wee bit!".
Without putting too fine a point on it , that comment is complete and utter bolleaux!

Having been in this situation some 20 years or so ago, I can only concur with Samuel's viewpoint ....

...and the same also goes for those who joined the RAF with a wealth of equally as valuable experience from elsewhere...!
