From the above report:

"He has joked that the secret to his longevity is "cigarettes, whisky and wild women"."

On that basis most of us should live to 120

Yes Many Happy returns Sir!

A down side however....

his daughters both died in their 80s.
On a personal note, This is the only problem I can see with living so long. It must have been heart-breaking for the poor chap.

I hope that St Dunstan's have made him a bloody big cake.

Congratulations and many happy returns, sir!

Happy Birthday, Henry! The RAF have done this grand old man proud today.

I too must be getting old - the AVM behind Henry looked to me to be about 14 years old.

Jaconicko: slow horses and fast women - where did I go wrong?

Wow, to sit at your birthday party with great great great grandchildren.

And you still remember the formation of the RAF, having served in the RNAS

You are one in several hundred million

Cigarettes, whiskey and wild women! Spoken like the true Royal Navy chap he is!!

Senior Service missed a trick there, letting the RAF grab all the glory!

However: Happy Birthday Sir! It is humbling to hear your story, and I personally wish you all the best. Thank You.

Regards,

Advo

PS: Anyone here who knows the gentleman, please pass on the fondest regards and respect of all the posters here. Perhaps you could print some out, and let him know the respect all on this forum have for his contribution to 2 world wars.

Thanks Again

Not quite, there were several RN officers with us today at Cranwell. I was just really humbled to see Henry talking to all the schoolchildren; they adored him. He is a most amazing person.

Good to hear it, Toddington Ted! I retract my remarks. Henry is certainly an admirable chap. I hope the schoolchildren who met him never forget him.

Yes AA there was and even that seems a long time ago in a land far away for a "youngster" like me!

Not just me that thinks like that, then.

But, to the point - well done, Henry
