map of sound levels in england

Did anyone see the map of England detailing sound levels which was in the Guardian on saturday.
Did anyone else notice that all the military airfields were missing?

Details here:

http://noisemapping.defra.gov.uk/wps/portal/noise

Aircraft noise patterns seem to be based on major civilian airfields.

"The Noise Mapping England site currently supports the following urban areas only:

Birkenhead
Blackpool
Bournemouth
Brighton
Bristol
Coventry
Hull
Leicester
Liverpool
London
Manchester
Nottingham
Portsmouth
Preston
Reading
Sheffield
Southampton
Southend
Teeside
The Potteries
Tyneside
West Midlands
West Yorkshire"

Most military airfields are in rural areas, so would not impact on the above.

What a waste of time and effort. Road noise is high near busy roads. Fantastic. Thanks. Can anyone guess where rail noise is high....?

Indeed, it does seem a particularly "no sh!t Sherlock" study.

Was it government funded by by chance?

Please Note: Due to the popularity of the site we are currently experiencing very heavy load. If you experience problems in accessing the site please try again later.

I hope that DEFRA appreciates that this 'popularity' is gob-smacked tax payers looking to see just how their money has been wasted - yet again!
