Military Aviation A forum for the professionals who fly military hardware. Also for the backroom boys and girls who support the flying and maintain the equipment, and without whom nothing would ever leave the ground. All armies, navies and air forces of the world equally welcome here.

Too many vested interests

I know this isn't aviation related, but for those of you who are baffled and frustrated by bad procurement this video shows that it hapeens in the US and A too.

It's one area i thought the US would have sown up considering it's wealth, and awareness of how C-17's full of bodies can alter the course of a war.

There may be vested interests in NBC and elsewhere, of course.

This is one man's view of Dragon Skin in practical use - he doesn't like it. (Don't necessarily dismiss him for being a journo - he has a service background)

I have no opinion either way - or indeed competence to take one. Just thought the alternative view was interesting.

It seems that a couple of the 30 Level IV Dragon Skin vests Neal sent to PEO Soldier back in 2006 for that series of first article tests the Army claimed (and we agreed) failed miserably have wound up on eBay. Soldiers for the Truth reports the vests showed up in February with a list price of $3,500.
so a critical failure of a vest (apparantly) that was then rejected - was being sold on ebay ....... oh dear someone is in trouble.

Anyone any idea how the current US issue or Dragon Skin compares to Osprey? (Please tell me that it's lighter!).
