RAF Germany 1959 - 2001
Afternoon all,
I'm currently working on a book on the above subject and was just wondering (given the thread on Gutersloh which popped up the other day) whether any of you fine chaps/chapesses may be able to help me...?
I'm really looking for interesting stories, memories that anyone has of the airfields/operations, aircrew experiences, and of course photos which people may have access to (i.e. own the copyright for or know who does).
If anyone is willing to help in any way then please do get in touch. I'd be most grateful. It's a big subject so I'm sure someone out there still remembers the good 'ol days!!!
Just drop me a PM if you're interested.
Many thanks.

Haha! Indeed, I'm aware of the book, and it's been done very well! I thought someone may mention it but not that quickly!
The book I'm working on will, I hope, compliment it rather than try to rival it and will certainly be produced in a different style. Bill Taylor tied the history down well, so it obviously has to bring something else to the table and it already has a number of features which make it a different kind of publication altogether!
Having said that, history is history so I'm looking for more "new" content with which to bulk the book out. The last thing I want to do is produce a re-write of Bill Taylor's excellent work!
Cheers.

I would suggest then that you present your case with a little transparency such as:
Who are you?
What is the actual scope of what you are looking for?
....and remember that 30 years have not passed since RAFG disappeared and that most people here have signed the official secrets act.
Photographs (previously unpublished) should not be an issue, but what subjects are you looking for? Whilst you make your millions, what is in it for us?
