Sounds interesting.
Doesn't seem to say anything about accomodation though and I understand that that can be a killer in HK. £4500 per months sounds good, but not if a huge chunk goes on rent.
Any more info?

Looking through http://www.gfs.gov.hk/phone.htm it appears that they have two gweilos in the entire unit, so the chances of someone from Blighty making it to the shortlist may be slim.

A decent apartment in Tung Chung will cost about HKD 13,000 - 15,000 per month.
Have you been to Tung Chung?

The contract is termed a 'Non-Civil Service Contract' (NCSC) and therefore does not attract the additional 'perks' of the Full Contract. So no accommodation, pension etc. You are on your own.
However, the gratuity paid at the end of the contract means that your salary is near enough 'tax free'.
There are upsides and downsides. Some are:
Ups: Cost of living is cheaper than UK, better transport, good schools.
Downs: Cost of accomodation, air quality (as the contributors on another forum will always be willing to point out!)
Please ask questions, do your homework and go on a recce visit if you are interested, as life in HK is not everyones cup of tea! (Jasmine, Iron Buddha, Sow Mei...... and anything else that was left by my predecessor)
