The Disbandment of XXV(F) Sqn

XXV(F) Squadron will formally disband on 4 April 2008. As such the Squadron will be holding several events to mark the end of its illustrious history. These are highlighted below:

Friday 28 March 2008 – 1900 for 1930

The Other Ranks will hold a ‘Bottom Table’ at RAF Leeming’s Quinton Suite for present and past members. Please pm if you fit into this category and wish to attend.

Friday 28 March 2008 - 1700

The Officers will hold a XXV(F) Squadron Happy Hour in the Officers’ Mess, RAF Leeming. This will be open to present and past Officers of the Squadron, visiting aircrew, along with Squadron Association members. Please pm if you are interested in attending.

Saturday 29 March 2008 – 1900

XXV(F) Squadron will host a hangar party to be held at RAF Leeming. The cost will be approximately £10 per person and will be open to all past and present members of the Squadron, Association members, visiting aircrew, RAF Leeming personnel and their guests. Please pm if you wish to attend giving details of service, contact details, vehicle details and number of guests.

Friday 4 April 2008

XXV(F) Squadron will formally disband at RAF Leeming. Past members are welcome to watch the parade but the subsequent dinner will be by invitation only. Please pm if you wish to attend the parade.

We look forward to welcoming those past members of the Squadron to our disbandment events and we would also like to take this opportunity to thank those personnel across the UK, NATO and indeed across the world who have contributed to the success of, and worked in partnership with, our Squadron over its 92 year history.

All banter aside, the closure of XXV(F) Sqn will mark the death of another Fighter squadron that has an illustrious history (although I concede that Bloodhound was sub optimal!).

Mods, Can we give this thread a 'Sticky' tag to ensure maximum publicity.

Shame, but we'll get XXV Sqn back in the future - good Sqn, all the mud guys are gonna miss having you guys on TLP/Flag etc, good bunch of guys, another one bites the dust... Give it a few years and you'll be sticking XXV patches on a JSF no doubt. All the best, hope the dinner's an awesome night!

Are you suggesting that side-side is a better option? Now there's a debate that could run and run.

And as for the UCAV that was the Bloodhound it was bl**dy quick you have to concede that!

Jackets

When we placed the first order for the leather jackets with Aviation Leathercraft he did tell me the jackets would last longer than the Tornados. How many originals can we get back to Leeming?

To be fair, mine is no longer an original (nicked on det. Or lost in an Akrotiri storm drain, I forget which!)

XXV Disbandment Party

tiredolddog -

Do you suggest that the XXV Disbandment Party should be postponed until the cessation of hostilities around the world?
