Memories

Still have my original jacket - don't know why ... will never fit me again! Thanks for all the threads ... made me chuckle! Many fond mermories of RAF North Yorkshire. From being first in the door with Taff and Bod, climbing that lamp-post and still don't understand what that Pink Bar was all about and as for that Table! Sad day - sorry not to be able to make the booze up - but won't miss yamming the Silver Bullets!

Spon - you were right - still think he was a HORSES ARSE!

Out of interest, what happens to all those F3s? Surely there's only so much need for training airframes? I assume many of them will go to the Great Hangar in the Sky only to be reincarnated as soda cans.

Maybe this answers your question...

At least one of those looks like an Eye-talian

They do seem to be leaving an awful lot of hardware on though - those cannon barrels alone must be worth a few bob? (never used )

I quite like the stacking chairs.

They are not Cannon Barrels. They are the exhaust gas tubes.

Barrel

They are not exhaust gas tubes.......

They are the housings' in-which the barrel used to sit when fitted.

Clearly a few of these jets need to go to museums, and by the way you may have a GR but an F is quite different, not merely a different mark.

"Fat bazzers leather jacket competition" at Happy Hour, winner may be the one whose still fits, or may be the one which fails to close by the largest gap. Decision at the time.

PM's tree was replaced with a new one before lunchtime the following day, so it is the replacement's health and well being we are keen to discover.

Do you wanna be in OUR gang?

At least 7 ex-Italian F.3s were noted before destruction.

I'm surprised that none of the cockpit preservers obtained one of the nose sections? Probably a stipulation that they were destroyed with no parts sold off.

A week to go.

Less than a week to go before the start of the disbandment activities at Leeming. It is difficult to understand how best to celebrate 93 years of dedicated service to the country. No doubt much of it is best done in private, since the understanding of the very character that persuades young men and women to put their lives on the line for the country is as absent as the understanding that these very people need to let off steam and occasionally be outrageous. As I said, probably best in private.
Lest anyone be unsure about my previous post, the "M word" will not be there.

Peppermint Jam – So that’s where ‘FA’ was last month! The front cover of this months AirForces mag also carries a nice photo of FA but according to the credits on the editorial page ‘FA’ is a ‘Tornado F3 of 43 Squadron’. Strong letter to editor will follow!

I believe the hangar party on the 29th may be fully booked; there’s a max capacity of 600. If you want to go now you need to get on the phone quick, or know someone very important.

Felt the need to say thankyou and well done to all those involved with the XXV(F) Sqn dispandment weekend.
Two fantastic nights, so many old buddies, all tinged with a little sadness about the imminent demise of a fantastic squadron.

Well summed up by Iccarus. A fantastic weekend, well organized and slickly executed. The party last night was excellent.

Well done to all involved.
