Blimey, this bloke has given the old JP a fair tweak, eh? Just needs a new (less thirsty) turbofan motor and it would make a great trainer!

XW287

Last time I flew her was September 1988 from that lovely (!) place they now call Doncaster Sheffield (but the NDB still codes FNY).

She looks like she has been well cared for.

Some of you guys must've flown south of Peterborough over the brickpits during the 80's??? Pretty much a dead route now.

Check of my 1st log book shows my one and only acquaintance with XW 287 as 31 Dec 86 1:10 on Adv JPs Ex 2 with Sqn Ldr Welch (Jag mate IIRC). More importantly what the hell was I doing flying on New Year's Eve?

Yes, and probably in this aircraft, too. A standard training nav route went that way.

Xw 287

385 Nav Refresher Course, 1 Mar 84.

IIRC we ( Self + Flt Lt G****m F****r) were poodling around the West Midlands when a Fk off ****e hawk commited suicide against the front right hand side of the aircraft. However, after a faultless, fixed throttle recovery, through some very nasty weather, we were safely on the deck at Shawbury; total flight time 50 mins. Thanks for that Festus!
