Tyndall AFB question
Looking at Google Earth the other day and came across an unusual runway to the south east of Tyndall AFB in Florida. It has a cratered runway (bombed?) and an F-15, F-4, F-100(?) and a Huey parked at the north eastern corner, any ideas or info? The position of the runway is 30°01’06.06”N and 85°29’54.94”W.
Not looking at anything on google, but I suspect what you are looking at is the "Drone Strip". The launch and recovery runway for the QF aircraft - 102/104/4 etc. Not really sure where the "cratered" appearance comes from but having flown fom there for 3 years pretty sure I know what you are on about.

LJR, I hope thats the Joint Camoflage and Concealment Deception JCCD and not the Jacksonville Community Centre for the Deaf JCCD (but it would explain why they didn't know about the bomb craters-they didn't hear any bombs!)

The RED HORSES are based there. If you know what they do, you might appreciate why a lot of the craters are repaired, along with a number of lengths of the strip.
And Yes the JCCD is not the tree hugging type.
