Light aircraft crash in the loop.

Morning.
After spending all day on Cad photographing the usual locals and one or two pointy things we spotted a light aircraft exiting the loop late in the afternoon and within minutes it got into trouble and crashed into a tree in a field.
Whils one of us telephoned the police to report the crash I ran down the hill and was able to flag down a police car on his way to try and find the site, which was impossible to see from the road.
We managed to get to the crash site and being one of the first on the scene were able to direct others there.
Below is what we found!
The pilot was ok and was helped down from the reckage by which time an ambulance had arrived with the fire brigade to assist.
Lucky or what?
Richard.

Good drills Richard, well done. Excellent news about the pilot.

Neat shot too. The fact that the tree is still standing speaks volumes for the strength of mother nature.

Ay the SAR flt at Valley we were notified by the Air Ambulance that they had been tasked to this but nothing came from the ARCCK as they had not been contacted at all. We thought it was a mistake by some non-aviation observer and that they had actually seen the aircraft disappear behind a hill and thought it had crashed. I guess we were wrong and someone was very very lucky to walk away from that.

He was a very lucky man indeed.
This is what came through 15 minutes before and you can see how low the cloud is in the background.
Richard.

Hi.

It looked as though he lost control in some way and started to spiral out of control and simlpy slammed into the tree.

Richard.

Wow, what a lucky bloke. It's not often that you can fly into a tree and walk away. Bet he's shaken!

Looks like that tree saved his life. I'd take a tree over the ground anyday

Ricko,
I think the usual photos of military aircraft in the Welsh mountains are absolutely first class and I would say that the photographs of the downed Luscombe probably have a legitimate flight safety merit on these pages. However, I can't help but feel that the picture in your last post is probably crossing the line and infringing the poor bloke's privacy somewhat. I'm sure the last thing he wants when he's been injured, his beautiful classic aeroplane has been wrecked and his pride severely dented is a paparazzi style situation, and it doesn't really add much to the aviation side of the story. To hear that he walked away from it is great news - I'm not sure I need to see a close up of the poor chap.

But...I don't make the rules. Maybe he cleared the photos, maybe he's fair game in a public place. I'm sure the tabloids would buy that photo but the broadsheets would choose one of the others. What do you think? I'm just interested - not picking a fight.
