Supersonic Life
I was first told about this production about 2 years ago but have heard nothing since. Does anyone here know if it will ever be released to the public?or is it a little to contrversial?
I didn't know anyone from 2 Sqn personally but did fly out of Nowra regularly with the Army and grew up on the NSW south coast, gazing up at RAN then RNZAF Skyhawks, so I would be very interested in obtaining a copy.
Cheers
Here's the teaser:

Wasn't there a RNZAF pilot in the series Test Pilot? I've got a copy on DVD somewhere but can't dig it out to refresh my memory as to his name - pretty sure it was Steve though!
Incidentally - has anyone here flown The Scooter? Just wondering what the pilot's perspective of the jet was.

From: where the streets have no IEDs. Yet.
Gareth : yep, Steve Moore, ex UH1 and Blunties. NZ's first ETPS grad in a while. Did his preview on the Tonka; I'll leave it to any lurking Harrier or Typhoon types to suggest that a Tonka isn't much of a step up from a Blunty.

I would give my eye teeth for a ride in a scooter, I wonder if they can be registered in Australia under the 'restricted' or 'limited' catagories? there are a number of Strikemasters(ex Kiwi)/L39s/MIG 15s registered here that conduct 'Top Gun' aerobatic flights for anyone willing to shell out the dosh, not sure how safe they are though...

Low budget???
I remember the launch party as being on the same scale as a Hollywood production... Russian hookers imported in from Bulls, phenomenal quantities of Lion Red and Coruba served in the finest mess crystal, and the video being shown on that fine example of early projector technology to an audience in black ties and ballgowns, while the soundtrack boomed through on the "Evans Special" stereo system. Maybe? No?
Have you done a DVD release yet - let's do it all again!

EDD: A good introduction to that video would the briefing on the aircraft's capability in the OH base cinema just after the decision to buy the A4's had been made.
Speaking from the stage, Mo Moss said in his usual dead pan way, "The A4 has a short supersonic dash capability".................................... (long pause).................................
"from 40,000ft to sea level".
I wish someone had filmed that.

Haha, Henry, thats a hard case!
I know someone from 2 Sqdrn who flew out of Nowra (Steve Moore was his boss) ... sounds like pretty much the most fun you can have fully clothed...

Sadly (obviously!) he's no longer flying them, and works for Air NZ - along with quite a few other ex A4-K pilots.
I'm sure they will be interested in this production

What a great little jet... Mr Heinmann's hot rod.
Anyone know how they got that great front end shot (no sarcastic comments along the lines of `from the pig it was trying to catch up with...' please)?

Front end shot
Tartare, I would imagine they filmed it from the open ramp of a Herc. I have been on board RAAF Hercs on similar photo sorties with Hornets and other Hercs before and judging by the speed I would say that is the case here. It takes some skill on the part of the following pilot.
The best I have seen (I was not on board but have seen the photos) was a Kiwi Herc so close, it looked as if its cockpit was underneath the tail of the photo ship!

Ahhh... of course.
Something quite awesome about seeing a fast jet that close.
On a related topic... picked up a copy of Ross Ewing's `Topped Gun.'
V. informative.
Especially the debate over options considered before the A4K was chosen.
Now... wouldn't a kiwi Harrier have been interesting?!
Just the thing to put a few SNEBS on target out on the East Coast...
