Actually, the ones around my way (Bury St Edmunds) are well turned out and look very smart and professional. Although I have seen one or two elsewhere who look less than perfect.
That being said, it seems to me increasingly commonplace to see those in a uniform wearing it as if they resent the fact, from Tesco to Traffic Wardens.
(And I agree, this thread would be better in JB)
