Anyone flew L-29?

I would like to find some feedback from any pilot who had a chance to fly L-29 "Maya". Would be happy to get any feedback...

Cheers,
BD

I flew one in New Mexico last year with a training centre- Mrs SMT had gone shopping ( I think she spent more than me that day!). Having flown the YAK-52 before, the cockpit layout was familiar. It rotated at something rediculously slow like 80 knots (still faster than the Harrier, so the world was hurtling past!). Generally very nice to handle although it only cruised at 270 knots- fast enough if you'd not done any other jet flying. Get in one and enjoy it (then fly an L-29 ).

The L39 is more the equivalent of the Hawk. The L29 is more like the Jet Provost - the engine is a copy of the RR Viper - I think. It handles nicely and is well built, but has confusing instruments! The NATO codename is 'Maya', but the manufacturer's name is 'Delphin' (Dolphin).
