Looks like an E-1 Tracer, predecessor to the Hawkeye also known as the Stoof with a Roof.

Is this what I think it is in Singapore 1°21'12.87"N 103°54'14.76"E ?

Pie Man,

The date of the photos will be a week earlier than you have estimated, making it on 22 or 23 Jun 05.

While Daf is correct about 2/3 Jul being the date of the 2005 Waddo Air Show, they normally start putting the marquees up a good week ahead of the event. With so little in the way of tentage etc erected when the photo was taken there would not be sufficient time to get the rest up before the ac arrived to populate the static, and the photo sessions etc began. In 2005 the Lincolnshire Show was 22/23 Jun and the shadows suggest a time around the middle of the day.

Proff Stude,
My old Mum used to say, that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
Alternately you could just butt out, nobody has forced you to read this thread!

Looks more like a jigsaw of many different photo runs taken at different times! Didn't realise rapeseed crops were only local to the Bourne area!!

So, anybody got a clue as to the use of this place? 53 34 33.18N 1 02 17.76W

It's in the middle of the industrial north, in a mining area and didn't have bugger all to do with RAF Finningley (that I am aware of).

At least the men in black will have a hard time finding me in my present location!

According to 'google earth community' it may be an old explosives storage facility for the mining industry.

They gradually replace imagery as more up to date or detailed stuff becomes available - the U2 has gone from Fairford for example. And some of the 'more sensitive' locations are fuzzed over now, whereas they weren't on first issue.

Hi all, just found something pretty cool to the west of Huntingdon but can't work out how to get the exact point. The best I can do is - Search this (Haweswater, Huntingdon) and see how long it takes to see it!!

Have a look at the old RAF Misson; Bloodhound site a few miles east of Finningley. More kit there than in Aldershot.

Date of G Earth pictures.

There is an option to turn on the date of the pictures in Google Earth - Within layers right at the bottom of the list tick digital global coverage and you will get an overlay with all the recent pictures. If you click on the + it will list all the years for which there is info.

Well what's this about then?

53 21 08.42 N 000 27 39.04 W

A similar layout in Anglia too?

52 23 08.03 N 000 43 10.84 E

Don't worry about the black Omega's either, there is open-source info available on both sites.

And no, I don't have a life!

STH, in the early days there was a presumption of hazard. Rather than risk the aircraft on a main base the storage facilities were located a few miles away. In the USSR it was normally 5 miles away from the base.
