Free the Navy 15 Demo Wednesday 4th

Well somebody cares...

Free The Navy 15: next protest will be:

6.45pm, Wednesday 4th April

Location: opposite the Iranian Embassy, 16, Prince's Gate, South Kensington, SW7 1PT
Nearest Tube Stations: Knightsbridge or South Kensington

All welcome, please invite as many friends, workmates and family along as possible. We'll be informing the media, too.

UPDATE: Thanks for all the messages of support. We've just had news that a parallel demo is being planned in Brussels for the same time as ours in London - the campaign is spreading! Anyone in Brussels can join the protest outside the Iranian Embassy from 6pm to 7pm at Ave. Franklin Roosevelt 15.

If anyone else is organising a protest anywhere else please let us know.

The Iranians will laugh in our faces.

We will have a nice peaceful protest. They are used to crowds calling for everyone to be executed with rocks and stones and the odd incendury device tossed in for good measure.

As much as I want the 15 to be released, I think that it'll be a waste of time.

But the parents, husband and friends of the captives won't think it's a waste of time, will they. It's about supporting them as much as it's about the Iranian stance.

Saintsman, you should hang your head in shame. Absolutely disgusting remark. I truly hope that you are not a serving servicman and if you are you need taking around the back of the hangar and having a thorough de-brief.

I hope for your sake that one day whilst going about your daily business you don't find yourself in the same predicament as these guys and girl. If you should however find yourself looking down the wrong end of an weapon then I hope that you will remember the fact that you said on a public medium that protests are a waste of time. Tell that to:

Emily Pankhurst
Martin Luther King
Nelson Mandela

etc etc etc.

I agree with Saintsman. Why should we descend to the Iranian level? It'll just harden their resolve rather than ours. Let the politicians sort it out, but with properly stern measures. And vecvec - just grow up.

BTW, did you see in the recent video from Teheran of a truck driving slowly through the mob carrying suitably-sized bricks, rebels throwing for the use of?

Zoom,
Such protests are NOT descending to the level of the Iranians. This is not a Government organised protest with compulsory attendance nor is it going to be a call to kill Iranians. I think it actually demonstrates one of the fundamental differences between us and them.
Whilst a protest such as this will have no impact or effect on the Iranians, just as the Iranian organised protests outside the UK embassy had no effect or impact on the UK Government, it IS a demonstration of solidarity with the 15 and will I am sure be of some comfort to the friends and family of those unfortunate sailors and marines.

"Properly stern measures?" Now whose losing the plot............

Iran 'to release British sailors' - 4 April 2007, 13:46 GMT 14:46 UK

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says 15 British naval personnel captured in the Gulf will be freed.

He repeated allegations that the British sailors and marines "invaded" Iranian waters, but said they would be freed as a "gift" to Britain.

He made the announcement at a news conference, in which he also awarded medals to the commanders who captured the British personnel in the Gulf.

He said the Britons would be released immediately and taken to an airport.

"They are free after this meeting and can go back to their families," Mr Ahmadinejad said.

Perhaps, pr00ne, but how long does it take for a peaceful demo to deteriorate when the 'opposition' turns up? Witness the Countryside Alliance demos.

'Properly stern measures?' I wasn't necessarily referring to this pathetic government.

Anyway, it sounds like the Iranian president is about to release the hostages now, demo or no demo. (See above.)
