F5 Airframe

Chaps, I'm on the lookout for an old F5 airframe, preferably one which is no longer in service, anyone got any ideas??

I'm in the UK by the way, so if possible I'm trying to source on here, incidentally I plan to cut the main fuselage up for research purposes.

Thanks in advance

where are you

As your location isn't given have you got any preference for a location? ie in the UK in the USA or else where for that matter.

This link will take you to lots of photos of them from all over the world and might provide you with a list of operators that might now have some surplus. There are some Greek ones that are disused but it was back in 98. Might still be there.

I believe there may be a T-38 frame dumped at Chalgrove. Give Martin Baker a call if interested.

PPS

Have to ask the question.

What sort of research involves cutting up an F5?

Why not another aircraft type?

"He obviously works for BAe and is working on the upgrade for the Typhoon."

Do you mean the upgrade that hangs all sorts of mud moving weaponry on it to turn it into something useful like a Jaguar?

Nope all wrong.. I need to chop one up to determine available space in the airframe for a particular item.

Come on PPS don't be coy. Do give us a clue what this mysterious item may be. Otherwise speculation will run riot.

Perhaps he's trying to fit a fan so it'll be like the F-35, and offer it as a low-cost export option

Suggestion: Airframe even used expensive.

Solution: Blue print of scaled plans and then just sit get measurements!

Albert.. closer than you imagine my witty chum.. The item is of course a fuel tank!!!

Oh and there are very good reasons which I cannot divulge for not copying an existing tank.
