Life Commutation Of Raf Pension

If there are any scribblies still left out there could someone please let me have the latest gen on life commutation (either PM me or add to this forum - it might be a general interest question).

Personal circumstances: Left May 1993 Sqn Ldr with terminal grant and max resettlement pension Now aged 60 (next month).

What is the maximum amount surrender-able?

What does each quid raise?

Presumably it is still a privilege and not a right and is subject to medical?

Reason for asking: it's coming under the spotlight in the divorce division of assets!

Anything else I need to know????

Why not check out the appropriate RAF Community Support page at this link? It gives everything that you will need to know about commutation and even has a link to a booklet regarding pension benefits on divorce. Hope it helps.

Many thanks for the replies and PMs - some very, very useful information.

As far as I am concerned the thread can now be closed but I'll leave it open just in case it is of more general interest to others.

Thanks again.
