Quote from Cumbrain Fell
Make the jump, get an eye-watering mortgage and say goodbye to petty rules and magnolia (ironically, our new property is becoming a neutrals/magnolia heaven!).
Been there seen it and done it. Stupid old me buyng my own pad in the middle of nowhere where the Air Force can't get me. Lincoln - 2 tours later and still no living in my own home. No choice but too live in quarters - I'm at HW now. Quarters here are ok, however are seriously let down by those faceless people responsible for maintenance. Off topic - but does anyone think that as service personnel we are more accountable now than 10 years ago whilst those ancilliary are less so? Strikes me as funny.

Done that, however I am now living in SLA on a base in Hampshire as I am not putting the significant other through the horrors of SFA (not that we are entitled as we aren't married yet)

In a similar situation, I bought a place in Scotland within commuting distance of 2 Scottish units (either of which I could and would work at.)
The annoying thing is that every volunteers list that is published cries out for volunteers at the unit I want to go to. Every time I ring PMA the reply is "Put your choice of post on JPA."
What is the point of a Volunteers list if volunteers are fobbed off?
