Surely with the wings attached to the Dak it would be incredibly dangerous to attempt to lift anyway.

Once the whole lot gets up to speed and the Dak trys to fly it would have the chinook wobbling around and crashing in no time.

I seem to recall an occasion in the 60s where a RAF Bristol Belvedere HC1 belonging to either 66Sqn RAF, operating from Seletar during the Borneo conflict, or from 26 Sqn RAF in Aden was used to recover a downed Beaver of the AAC by underslung load. Unfortunately the load had to be released after the Beaver decided to fly.
