Aero L-39 or Hawker Hunter flight

As the title says just looking for some opinions from those in the know, as to which would be a more enjoyable 'flight of fancy' ?

Cheers, Steve

I can hardly claim to be 'in the know' about flying either of your 2 options but I'd surely rate the chance to fly the most beautiful British jet fighter ever built over a ride in a dime-a-dozen light trainer!

Your call m'sieur.

I think I'd go for the Hunter too.

Truly beautiful a/c and an aviation classic to boot.

Is the ultimate question one of cost?

Hunter. Side by side, so you're much more likely to be given some stick time

Wink

Why not ask those nice people at Delta Jets - [email protected] or www.deltajets.com

I'm sure they could help make up your mind!

Cheers

Why rent when you can buy for $245,000 - about £130,000 - hell, I've got several times that tied up in Maison Artiste.

Do you think SWMBO would let me increase the mortage to buy one? Anyone want to be there when I ask her

Surly an airborne artist isn't out-ranked by OC Home Front?

L39 v Hunter

I have many 100's of hours on various Mks of Hawkers finest Hunters and it would be difficult to buy time on a finer aircraft --- however! The 2-seat Grunter is a bit of a boat, with very thick w/screens which can give some off-puting optical effects. I have flown the L39 in Slovakia, including ACM against the CO of the Sqn, and found it a sweet machine with few vices (He did, however, spin out of our last 1 v 1!). If you want a trip down memory lane, the Hunter is a wonderful beast. Otherwise, go for the L39 which is a like a slightly under powered Hawk but at least you are in a "single-seat" office

I too have just a little time on the Hunter - can't say I came across any 'off-putting' optical effects from the 'very thick windscreen'. And on more than one occasion, I was glad it was very thick!

No contest Schweeler - go for the Hunter!

I think he means the difference between the view through the front windscreen and the side panels? That was an optical quirk of the T7 which even I managed to cope with.

Now - a GT6 on an early summer morning. Wouldn't that be the best, eh Jinda'?

...unless you are offered a ride in a single-seat Hunter, with 40% more power than the 2-sticker, better canopy, etc. Fat chance, of course, but you can dream. Just don't have a hydraulic failure in either.

Oh yes, ooh yes - I reckon I could still hack it, but can't say where my brain would be passing through 10k feet.

Hyd fail? No problem - had several. Only slight problem was the bicycle brake-type clip on the end of the emergency undercarriage handle not being attached to the emergency undercarriage air bottle -----
