The demise of COs cup

Is it just the big unit in Oxfordshire whose COs cup has gone down the swanny or have any other stations had theirs wiped from the station events diary this year to be replaced by the now numerous 'fitness stats' events.

At a certain station not far from ISK the CO's cup has just been kicked back into life after a few years on the back burner and what a good opening event it was too!

Our COs cup is still up and running. Think we're doing quite well actually. What annoys me is when the Football one was on the other month, quite a few females got made to go down and play, even though they couldn't play football and didn't want to.

I thought it was your own choice if you went.

A few years ago at a secret F3 base in Lincolnshire most sections did not have enough people for a 5-a-side team owing to the sqns moving (and disbanding) away and Afg. However, the COs cup lived on by allowing you to make your team out of anybody available. Times are hard, but there is still room for fun.

What always annoyed me about COs Cup at the secret air base in Oxfordshire was the participation of PTS. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but are they not all fully paid fitness instructors. Of course their going to wipe the squash court clean when they play 'Eng Wing HQ', they had to represent their county at one sport at least for goodness sake! The whole idea was to get some Cpl to put a pair of adidas shorts on once a year to run around for 15 minutes against the Chief from the next hangar. Stick to pose-ing down the Bee Hive lads and give the rest of the Station a chance! (That feels better!)

Everyone gets their come-uppence! No 1 PTS were based at Abingdon in early 1970's along with UKMAMS and ATEU ( all friendly at that stage). UMAMS vs 1 PTS in 5 a side finals - blood match or what? What a bunch of bad losers - we whupped them and they behaved like Spams! In fact we beat them quite often at most sports - their fault for making us so fit!!
