Access to PPRUNE via IGS

Evening all,

I'm having problems logging onto Pprune from work and I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on the issue for me?

Initially, the site allows me to log on however, as soon as I try to post a reply or access my PMs, I am immediately logged out from the site!!

Any assistance would be appreciated.

When you log in, make sure you click 'remember me'.

Tombstone, Tombstone, Tombstone...

It's IGS. You can log on and surf, ad infinitum. But the firewall/AV at the server end forbids any interaction type of stuff!

You could, of course, go home and surf

Cheers chaps!

It's so frustrating at work sometimes, especially when there is a hot debate underway. I'll try the 'remember me' however, I suspect that spurlash 2 is right...

Bloody RAFP.

Tombstone,

Sorry for the thread jack, but I have been having trouble with Mr Prune all day. Rest of the Net seems fine but this site pauses, stops and keeps giving me time-out errors. Anyone else had probs?

Win xp on a 8 meg line.

Being a naughty boy, I initially had problems on the ARRSE and RUM RATION sites but none on Pprune, That was from the MoD portal. I never wanted promotion anyway!

SAR Bloke,

thanks for the 'remember me' hint, it worked a treat & I now feel like a complete mong for not trying that before letting 75 % of the RAF know that I'm crap with computers!

I've had this problem for a couple of years now at work. In fact after a period of banter between Soddim and myslef slagging off BWoS management. I reckon that someone has decided I'm PNG and put a block on my handle.
Question........if one uses the " remember me " option is it applicable only on that PC and can it be undone ?

I have problems with Pprune quite often and some sites occasionally. Pprune opens and then refreshes frequently before giving me the time out error. My 'fix' is either give up for the day or reboot. The latter works every time. Sometimes closing and reopening IE also works.

I also got it to work after clearing the cache.

Clear your cookies using 'tools', 'internet options' and 'delete cookies' via the Internet Explorer tool bar.

'Remember me' just uses a cookie to remember who you are everytime you log on.

BTW, at a previous unit which was part of a Defence Agency rather than MoD proper I had trouble accessing certain internet sites (not porn!!) until my brother set me up a link through a proxy server that could be accessed through the IGS firewall. Obviously this is very naughty and contravines C4I orders so don't do it.

You can't see the video clips at work because they are often in Flash format - something not currently on our machines (despite the JSP101 training package being written in it - hope someone got slapped for that) and I don't think the Java functionality is permitted either. The missing Google images is hampering my ability to produce witty and incisive PowerPoint presentations!

A JSP 101 training package that worked would upset a lot of modern thinkers in the DLO. People might start writing documents that looked presentable and could later be referred to; rather than some slick commercial looking effort formatted by Microsoft. Sorry lads, pet hobbyhorse and Rant now complete.
