Shackelbomber WL 795

As I walked around Mawgan in the beautiful sunshine I happened upon the above titled aircraft at the gate of said unit. A couple of old chaps were working away helping to keep the old girl in the shape to which she has become accustomed. Upon chatting to the old geezers it appears that although they spend much of their free time restoring the old girl, they have no previous experience on the aircraft and would like as much info as possible from those that either flew in her or worked on her. In particular they would like to contact anyone who delivered her to Mawgan on Nov 24th 1981. A signed print bearing the names of the P1 Chris Booth and two Air Engineers R.Rowlands and Steve Dicksel is the only info they have. Please feel free to PM me with any info you may have and I will gladly pass it on. As a Nimrod man myself, I would dearly love the restoration to continue and as much historical info as possible be provided to help out these chaps who provide their own time willingly, so that relative newbies like myself have something to look back at and admire.

Sorry,
Flew many hours on 795 on both Squadrons, but tried to post pictures of her in both 205 days and on 8 - failed miserably. Will try again later

Definitely NOT 795.

Big clue. 47 on the tail fin.

Try WL 747.

I sort of recognise one of the crew here. Looks like a Cyprus ranger and probably pre Nott cuts, ie 1981.

If the 1981 date was correct, Chris Booth was only a fly cdr at that time with the sqn boss Malcolm Cooper or his successor Beno (there'll be no this and there'll be no that).

I recognise all of them bar the ground crew..

Yes, I agree, back in the early days of 8 Sqn flying the Shack - 73-74-ish.

Malta at a guess.

And for bonus points: Crew 9..?
