IRAN'S MOTIVE?

With the state the world is in today and Iran deciding to discuss the Iraq issue with the US, does anyone believe that there is an underlying reason for them to do this. Could it well be to divert the attention from their nuclear program? I believe wholly that it is not to help stabilize Iraq, but, moreover promote their own country and its image abroad. Considering the way in which the nuclear talks have been going, is it not the general consencus that it is only a matter of time before our ISTAR platforms become involved?
