Brilliant... we're now on the scrounge from our buddies.

That's very kind, I can't see the RAF paying for a new Destroyer/Apache Flight somehow!!!!

By way of thanks, I propose an actuals Surf and Turf for all Dark Blue/Brown pax!

Officially the RAF is not getting a 5th C17 as it was cancelled. It is getting a 6th though to add to the 4 it already has!!??!! I hate all this budget/accounts/political jargon.

House of Lords Hansard 6 March 2006
Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean: My Lords, are the Government likely to consider the possibility of purchasing more C17 aircraft?
Lord Drayson: My Lords, my noble friend is right to raise this issue. We are looking at the possibility of purchasing a fifth C17 aircraft, but we have not yet made a decision.

Different IPT's fella. The 5th C17 was procured by the 5thC17 IPT and they buggered up the procurement so it was binned.... (something to do with the URD/SRD and business case not making any sense)

Now the 6thC17 IPT had a much better handle on the situation (having watched the mess the 5th C17 IPT made of it) and they are doing much better.

However, the 5thC17 IPT are watching with curiosity on the procurement of the 6th C17 and rumour is that the 5thC17 IPT will be scrapped and reform in the vane of a 7thC17 IPT. DPA, dont ya luv 'em ?
