No 26 (South Africa) Sqn
I'm trying to find some early history of No 26 Sqn as I think that an ancestor may have been a founder member. I will contact the AHB with a view to seeing the F540 but that will be after I have found any public domain information.
If any PPRuNers have any information they could share, I would be grateful.

Sorry, I think the thread title may have misled you into thinking that it was a SAAF Sqn I was enquiring about. Mea culpa.
The Sqn I'm trying to find out about was No 26 Sqn RAF, which last disbanded in the mid-70's. The Sqn was sub-titled "South Africa" as most of its founder members were, unsurprisingly, from South Africa.

No. 26 was formed in November 1914 at Netherhaven from a unit of the South African Aviation Corps. Sorry, don't know who the CO was. Became No.26 "South African" Sqn of the RFC in 1915, and deployed to Mombasa in January 1916 with BE 2c and BE 2e. Believe they returned to the UK in 1918 and disbanded at Blandford.
