ATPL (A) Credits for QSP
Chaps,
Can anyone tell me what portion of the 2000 TT & 1500 P1 (1000 Capt) hours required for the full ME ATPL (A) credits can be Simulator hours or "taxi time"? I believe there is an allowance available but can not find it in the MoD blah or LASORS.
Any help with references if you can provide them would be appreciated.
Filthy......

Easy answer - none.
Regarding taxy time, see Appendix B to Section A of LASORS 2006 (page 40), where military taxying time is fully explained. Particularly this note:
'Note: this allowance cannot be used to satisfy the eligibility requirements for any of the QSP licence accreditation schemes detailed elsewhere in
this publication.'
If you are applying for the D3.3 accreditation, you cannot use taxying or simulator time as the 2000/1500/1000 refers to military flight time. This is spelled out, for example, in LASORS 2006 Section D3.3(A):
'A minimum of 2000 hours flying experience* on military aircraft, including at least 1500 hours as 1st pilot (Captain)/1st pilot (Nimrod) P1 (can incl. max. 500 hours 1st pilot (non-Captain)/co-pilot P1/2nd pilot P1 (Nimrod)) on recognised multi-engine aeroplanes.
* as recorded in Service logbook i.e. excluding any taxitime allowances.

No - the'75 hours' is as calculated in the taxying time allowance for people using their total time for the 'conventional' assessment towards an ATPL(A) and does NOT apply to the 2000/1500/1000 military flying experience accreditation in LASORS D3.3!
See the reference I quoted earlier.
It is plausible that, if a specific simulator is acceptable to the Authority, the normal CPL(A)/ATPL(A) credit might be granted for non-D3.3 QSP professional licence applicants. But not towards the 2000/1500/1000 as explained earlier.

Guys I have a question which is perhaps only marginally off-topic :
Are there any employers out there who will favour the full-exam candidate over the military accredited guy?
A broad question I know, but I am curious if there is any discrimination being exercised by commercial employers..
Thanks in advance,
sonicstomp
P.S - By 'full-exam' I mean of course someone who did his ATPL (A) the hard way! (I haven't though..)

I mentioned this to CAA SRG at Gatwick on Friday as I'd heard rumours that some Hong Kong airlines hadn't been recognising D3.3 credit. The answer was that had been a problem with one airline, but a letter from the CAA to the Hong Kong authority had resolved most aspects.
Airlines would normally value 'experience commensurate with age' far more than mere exam results.

BEagle's answer notwithstanding, Cathay Pacific clearly indicated in their recruiting ads of a year ago that they were only interested in candidates who had a FULL set of ATPL exam results. I understand that this was because the Chinese CAA, bureacratic as it is, wanted to see all results before allowing conversion to a Chinese ATPL. I understand that DragonAir had similar problems with some potential recruits but I don't remember seeing their recruiting literature specifically mentioning exam results. BEagle's up to date info might indicate that the problem is/has been addressed ...... but be warned.

MrBernoulli,
You are correct, in that Cathay DID have a problem with the D3.3 credit. That issue has now been resolved, and I know of 2 guys who obtained their ATPL via the D3.3 credit and were offered jobs by Cathay.
