Re: Sad Loss - Flt Lt N Rees

I didn't want to say anything here but Nev was my best mate at uni and he, Karen, my girlfriend and I made a 4some. I am beyond gutted even though we lost touch a long time ago. Does anyone have a poc at Cranwell so I can get in touch with their parents?

I'd known Nev since the QFI cse at Scampton and those heady days teaching on the Bulldog. I can honestly speak for those not in the RAF who had the privilage to meet him that we are mourning the loss of a true "Gent and devoted family man". 28 years in military aviation and this devastating news has prompted me to register on pprune......I am gutted!

Re: Sad Loss - Flt Lt N Rees

I cannot begin to comprehend the grief of the young man who has lost his entire family. Words fail me. I knew Nev but my feelings are nothing compared to what his son must be feeling now. I can only say that if you read this thread by some remote chance young man, if you are ever in need of ANYTHING, there is an entire community here that will not hesitate in the blinking of an eye to help you in any way possible. Please just e-mail, anything! As you see from this thread, your father was a much loved man and always remember that. My thoughts are with you and i pray that you are helped to meet the enourmous challenges ahead caused by the loss of your Mum, Dad and Brother.

Well said Tigs.

We were discussing this terrible accident at work this afternoon. Totally tragic.

I didn't know Nev, but I am the father of three sons myself. Having previously lost a very good Bulldog QFI friend in an accident (with three kids of his own left behind) I can imagine how totally devastated this young chap must be feeling right now.

How very, very sad.

********, I'm aware that you're with your Gran at the moment and are being very strong at this dreadful time. I also know that the details of this thread are being forwarded to you.

Whilst the pain you feel is worse than any of us can truly appreciate, remember that your family were loved and respected by many of us and the world we know is lessened by the loss of your parents and Andrew. You are also a member of a wider, looser family that you may never have realised was there - we can never replace the one you have lost, but will always be keen to help you. You will find find support in surprising places over the coming few weeks, months and years, but as Tigs has already said, if there is anything that we can do, just say the word and we will be there for you. Stay strong.

I would appreciate knowing something about Nev Rees and his exploits and why/how he went to our big hangar in the sky.

How about an obituary on the thread.

I was stunned and extremely saddened on hearing of the loss of Nev, Karen and their son. They will all be sorely missed.

Top bloke, dedicated to his family. What a sad loss. Thoughts and prayers are with the lad left without them.

Re: Sad Loss - Flt Lt N Rees

Nev was a top bloke who I had known for about 20 years. This news has left me choked.

I just hope the family are made aware of the enormous resouces available from the RAFBF and RAFA to assist with his lad's short term future. This is exactly the circumstance I would expect my contributons to these funds over the years to be spent.

RIP mate.

Re: Sad Loss - Flt Lt N Rees

Well said. this is the most shocking and upsetting thing I have read on PPrune. I hope all the relevant funds now leap into action and take away the financial worries of this young man and his extended family for the forseeable future.

God bless you.

Re: Sad Loss - Flt Lt N Rees

Heard about this on my return from work yesterday. There're never quite the right words to hand when a mate dies, yet for him, his wife, and his lad all to go in one event really, really stuns the senses and leaves me speechless.

To Nev's remaining son (that phrase must hurt), I am sure that the RAF family, coupled with those of your Mum and Dad, will look after you with the utmost care. I wish you luck and hope that your life can somehow regain some kind of normality.

May they all rest in peace.

You know when a name is so familiar that you actually do not recognise it at first?
Horrible feeling when further posts appear only to confirm the worst.
Will someone please tell me that they weren't the terrific family who lived next door to us on the patch at Lyneham, on the corner opposite the main entrance............

Re: Sad Loss - Flt Lt N Rees

I have known Nev for many years both at Lyneham and here at Cranwell and I cannot believe how fate can be so cruel.

Mum, Dad, and your little brother in an instant in heaven; how can anyone explain and justify this dreadful event.

Pain, we here at PPRuNe in general don't know the meaning of the word, but I know someone who does-***** there are no words we can express to take away the enormous, unbelieveable hurt and anguish that you are going through. We are ALL really sorry that this has happened.
