Stepping on it?!

My boss, a senior USAF civilian is retiring tomorrow night. In a former life, he was a USN A-4 pilot. The retiring official will be a USN 4-star with lots of lesser stars around, and of course, if the Navy has a four star there, my own USAF has to have one there (uninvited!).

I get to be the master of ceremonies. I'm honored by my boss's confidence, but the way I see it, the best that can happen is no punishment (What, am I back in SAC?!)

Any good stories like that in pprune?

Has anyone had to be in charge of a ceremony/event and really muffed it? Or seen one go wrong and gotten a laugh?

How's that?
