RAF to maintain ‘tempo’ of coalition commitment

Words from on high in this week's Flight Magazine:-

Corrected link

Seems we have plenty of resources available to maintain activities in Iraq and to increase them in Afghanistan - the man at the top says so!

(Thanks Data-Lynx)

LL. There was a snag with the original link so if it does not work, try this or a search on the Flight site for: RAF to maintain tempo of coalition commitment

Cool

Calm down Sub, it was only a black tie function!!

He didn't say much about SH, but did describe it alongside strategic lift, force protection, recce and AAR as a "pinch point" in the RAF's operating capabilities.

And hey, RAF News loves ya!

I'm awaiting the ministerial announcement for the Afghan deployment starting in January, cannot see how they can hide this one...

I don't think they're trying to hide it in any way, however the later they leave it announcing it, the less time we might have to put in Urgent Operational Requirements=less money spent. Sound familiar?

From the article:

Stirrup was earlier this year named as the UK’s next chief of the defence staff.
Translation for the non-politicians:

"Stirrup is a 'Yes' man, let's go to Iran"

Or maybe as the new CAS he feels that if he states that we can meet the current tempo we won't be cut any more? The politicos have heard us all banging on about overstretch, maybe he wants to take them by surprise without being a 'yes' man??
