French Military Aircraft

I posted this on the French Forum but just wanted to see if anyone would have info here.

Is it normal for fighter jets to practice manouvers or make positioning flights at 0400hrs?

Have just watched a pair of fighters go by at high altitude here in Lyon.

Maybe it's a dumb question but I've never seen it before.

Have you been up at 0400 before?

How did you see them at 0400? I've just spent a week in Agde and it was pitch black until 0630. And at high altitude? (Not doubting you, just intrigued) :-) .

Mind you could have been the pair (looked like Super Entenards if they're still flying, but they were gone in less than two seconds and the only lesson is that I need to brush up on French a/c) which nearly took our roof off and blew my ears out at about 15.00 on Monday, heading out into the Med.

Love to know what their minimums are!

Sorry...this is getting a bit spotty...I'll get my coat/anorak.

These aircraft had nav lights, and it was a pretty clear night last night.............anyway, it's all probably much ado about nothing.

Once you qualify and forget to check in as you change sectors or wander off your flight plan, you'll get to see them again...REALLY CLOSE.
