'Middle Wallop Air Show 2007' ?
As the 48th birthday of the Corps seems to have been and gone unnoticed, are there any plans to celebrate the 50th in style?
I wonder what the chances are of,
'Middle Wallop Air Show 2007'
Hopefully in the fine tradition of how they used to be. (AACA tent, bridge across the A343, mass airmiss, trade stalls, HeliTech? and of course not forgetting M r B l o b b y.)
Hope you all had a good summer break!

Are you volunteering to organise it?
After all, it is or at least should be, a great occasion that needs some form of celebration.
I'm not so I can't!

Besides, I think the greatest problem would be getting a decision on where to hold the event!

T'would be a great event if it harked back to the olden days though.
Can't wait.

SS would have been hard pushed to organise a night out at the pink house let alone the MWAS.
Just to show you the 'entertainment' that night and what you missed!
edited 'cause she was looking a bit long in the mouth!
For those that were there, I still have the pics if you're interested!!
Name and character/dress should be sufficient!

MIDDLE WALLOP INTERNATIONAL AIR SHOW
The International Air Show is held at Middle Wallop in Hampshire. During the air show many aircraft from a wide range of Armed Forces can be seen displaying flying skills. The air show is also an ideal setting for industry to demonstrate new equipment and for the public to be entertained. The next International Air Show will be in 2007 (To be confirmed). You will find further information on the web site: www.mwias.com.

ABIW,
Only 50 years in name. RAF History c/o http://www.rafweb.org/RAF_Hist_Index.htm starts like this;
"British military aviation began in the last quarter of the19th Century, when an interested group of Army officers started to experiment with hydrogen filled balloons. These activities took on a more substantial form when an Army Balloon Equipment Store was set up at Woolwich in 1878."
That will be with the Army then.
It could be said that the RAF didn't really start until you got rid of the RNAS back in 1937.
Hopefully though, you experienced aviators will still be turning up.

Just for research purposes I went into town for a 'pink house drive-by', and, shock horror...the pink house has been re-named, re-painted and looks quite upmarket. Might have to try a 'drive thru' soon. Ropey menu though!

Sorry Sid, cheap shot I know, but with my Sqn, 24, currently celebrating it's 90th your 50 seems to pale into insignificance.........
